Someone who feels stuck in a rut in their career or would like to boost their paycheck may find just the opportunity by returning to college to finish their degree. "To keep pace with a changing world and increase their earning power, more adults are going back to finish their degree to advance their careers," commented Brad Cowgill, president of the Council on Postsecondary Education. While some may want to finish a degree that would help them climb the ladder in their current field, others may want to choose a completely different course of study to start on a brand-new career path. In either case, Lisa Cox, a retention coordinator at Easter Kentucky University, told EKU News that it is easier than many people think to get their qualifications. "Sometimes life happens and things get in the way," she remarked, adding: "Sometimes people are surprised to see how easy it is to finish their degree." The Bureau of Labor Statistics has predicted that jobs requiring a bachelor's degree will grow almost twice as fast as the average for all occupations during the 21st century. |
