LiveCareer News - Working Abroad Can Enhance Resume

Working Abroad Can Enhance Resume
11 August 2008
In an increasingly global economy, experience gained by working abroad will enhance a graduate's resume.

Writing on MSNBC.com, Eve Tahmincioglu stated the tiger economies of east Asia provide especially fertile ground for career development.

Recruitment specialist Michael Jalbert of the MRINetwork agreed, highlighting China as a promising destination for those seeking work experience in foreign climbs.

Shanghai and Beijing both have "huge burgeoning economies", the site said.

"And Hong King is one of the most exciting places on earth", Mr Jalbert commented.

Developing economies such as Vietnam and Thailand can also offer opportunities - but before graduates pack their bags for their overseas adventure, it is important they assess what they want to get out of working abroad and how it will aid their future career plans, Ms Tahmincioglu stated.

Graduates may also be interested in voluntary programs that offer the chance to travel and contribute to society while also providing valuable experience for potential careers.

Voluntary organizations include the Peace Corps, which gives individuals the chance to live and work in developing countries. Some 95% of its volunteers are graduates.
