Graduates looking to enter the job market could stand out from the crowd and enhance their chances of landing their desired career with a visual resume. According to OnRec, recent statistics have found that four out of five employers in the United States would be willing to accept this 21st century form of application, realizing that for younger graduates in particular, making video clips and using websites like YouTube is almost second-nature. Using a video resume, candidates can pitch themselves to an employer straight away, giving them an instant opportunity to assess their compatibility, Judith Watson, head of employment for Cobbetts told the site. This could lead to a significantly faster selection process, she added. "Although the practice is still relatively uncommon, more and more businesses are requesting this form of job application," Mr Watson noted. Career coach Ford R Myers said embracing technological advances in resumes and applications can help job seekers to "get ahead". |
