Sports Management Careers Offer Big League Opportunities
27 March 2008
Those who work in the field of sports management may get the chance to work with some of the biggest names in the sporting world.

Katie Boyes, a sports management student at Syracuse University, recently had the chance to attend the NBA All Star Weekend in New Orleans as part of her internship and had only good things to say about the experience.

Sarah Zipp, an instructor of sport management at the university, commented: "She is absolutely thrilled with her experience and getting a lot of responsibility for handling major events."

Career possibilities in sports management are diverse and include working as agents, managers, publicists, and event promoters with professional teams, university athletic departments, amateur associations and recreational agencies.

A love and knowledge of sports is necessary, of course, while strong communication and business skills are also important for this career.

According to salary.com, the median earnings for people working in racing and sports management careers is $49,521, although this figure can vary considerably based on the type of role, level of experience and location of the job.
