Graduates with a qualification in accounting or a related skill can access a wide range of career opportunities as they are among the most in-demand groups in the country. According to a recent study by Manpower, accounting and finance jobs are among the top 10 occupations with most need for new recruits, alongside mechanics, engineers and technicians, redorbit.com said. As a result, not only can accounting graduates look forward to having a choice of potential career paths, but also the demand for skilled workers from employers means there are high-end salaries on offer. The site said figures from the National Association of Colleges and Employers show individuals entering the profession with a 4-year accounting degree can expect to earn around $47,000 a year. Demand for accounting graduates is also likely to be sustained, as according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, business in the sector is expected to increase as new regulations are introduced and financial scrutiny of companies becomes more widespread. As a result, between 2006 and 2016 career opportunities in the sector are expected to grow by 18% - equivalent to 226,000 new jobs.  |
